Robert Eggers' Werwulf Movie Adds Hamnet Star to Cast
One of the stars of the acclaimed film Hamnet has been tapped to star in Robert Eggers' upcoming Werwulf movie. The film, a period piece horror flick, is directed by Eggers, known for his previous works such as The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman, and Nosferatu. The movie is set to be released in US theaters this December.
Who has joined the cast of Robert Eggers' Werwulf movie? According to Deadline, Bodhi Rae Breathnach has been cast in the film. Breathnach played Susanna, William Shakespeare and Agnes' older daughter, in Chloé Zhao's Hamnet. Before that, she starred in episodes of The Capture and So Awkward Academy. She will also be seen in the action movie Shelter, starring alongside Jason Statham and Bill Nighy, which is set for release at the end of this month.
Additionally, Breathnach has been cast in the new Sense and Sensibility movie, directed by Georgia Oakley, which will be released later this year. In this film, she plays Margaret Dashwood, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, and Frank Dillane as John Willoughby, among others.
Details about Breathnach's character in Werwulf are being kept under wraps, but it is described as a supporting role. The cast also includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Ralph Ineson, all of whom have worked with Eggers before. The werewolf tale, set in 13th-century England, is described as a mysterious creature stalking the land as local folklore becomes a terrifying reality.
The script for Werwulf was co-written by Eggers and Sjón, and the film will be released in US theaters on December 25, 2026, from Focus Features.
