Demon Slayer Stage Play Confirmed for June 2026: Hashira Training Arc! (2025)

Get ready, Demon Slayer fans! The next thrilling installment of the beloved series is officially slated to premiere in June 2026. This announcement has sent waves of excitement through the fandom, as the wait is shorter than many anticipated.

This exciting news comes straight from Anime News Network, confirming the sixth stage play adaptation of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. This stage play, titled Butai Kimetsu no Yaiba Sono Roku Hashira Geiko, will bring the Hashira Training arc from Koyoharu Gotouge's original series to life on stage.

The creative team behind this new production includes Tsuneyasu Motoyoshi as director and writer, who previously helmed the Swordsmith Village arc stage play. Music will be overseen by the returning composer Shunsuke Wada. The show will also star Shogo Sakamoto as Tanjiro, a familiar face from the Entertainment District and Swordsmith Village arc plays, alongside character double Fu Takahashi.

The first Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba stage play premiered in Japan back in 2020, running for two months and quickly becoming a fan favorite. The most recent stage play, which adapted the Swordsmith Village arc, enjoyed a successful run at the Galaxy Theater in Tokyo and the AiiA 2.5 Theater Kobe in Hyogo. All five of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba stage plays have been well-received by both critics and audiences.

And here's a treat for international viewers: all available Demon Slayer stage plays were released for free on the official Aniplex YouTube channel in January 2025. The first stage show, Demon Slayer—Kimetsu no Yaiba—The Stage, was also made available to international fans via Crunchyroll in June 2024.

The original Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, penned by Koyoharu Gotouge, ran for 23 volumes from 2016 to 2020. It quickly became a sensation, selling massive quantities of books and inspiring numerous adaptations across various media.

In 2019, the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime premiered, introducing Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko to a global audience. The anime, like the manga before it, was a massive hit, amassing a huge fanbase. While the anime series concluded in 2024, the story continues with a trilogy of animated feature films, starting with the recently released Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle hit theaters in Japan in July and immediately became a cultural phenomenon. It currently boasts near-perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 98% rating from both critics and audiences.

But here's where it gets truly astonishing: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle has achieved incredible financial success. In October, the movie set a new record as the highest-grossing international film of all time in the United States, surpassing the record held by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for over two decades. The global box office haul for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Infinity Castle currently exceeds $730 million.
