The Marketplace Mall bids farewell to its interior stores today, marking a significant moment for the local community.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Today is a pivotal day as it marks the final day of operation for the majority of interior shops within the Marketplace Mall!
Speculation has circulated about whether December 31 would indeed be the last operational day for this shopping venue. To clarify, News 8 reached out to the mall's management, and a representative confirmed that today is, indeed, the last day for the interior retail spaces.
However, it’s important to note that some outdoor-facing establishments, such as JCPenney and Dave & Buster’s, will continue to operate normally at the mall. Interestingly, several businesses that previously occupied space inside the mall have reportedly been offered relocation opportunities at other properties managed by Wilmorite. These changes come amidst broader redevelopment plans that have sparked various reactions among shoppers and business owners alike.
In addition to the Marketplace Mall, Wilmorite also manages other prominent shopping centers, including Eastview Mall in Victor, The Mall at Greece Ridge, and Pittsford Plaza.
As the community reflects on this transition, what are your thoughts on the future of shopping malls in our area? Will this shift lead to more vibrant retail spaces or signal a decline in traditional shopping experiences? Share your opinions in the comments!
