Despite the presence of newly crowned world record holder Caspar Corbeau of the Netherlands, Marti emerged victorious with a super-speedy time of 2:00.86, leaving Corbeau in second place with a time of 2:01.27. Luka Mladenovic of Austria secured bronze, touching in at 2:02.48. Marti, the reigning world champion, shattered his own Spanish record, improving on his previous benchmark of 2:01.55.
