UVA's swimming and diving teams had a stellar performance on Senior Day, sweeping Penn State with impressive wins from Curzan, Umstead, Williamson, and King. The women's team dominated with a score of 154-61, while the men's team secured a victory of 133-85. The Cavaliers won 19 out of 20 events, showcasing their prowess in both individual and relay races.
Among the standout performers were Claire Curzan and Sophia Umstead, who each claimed two event wins. Curzan's victories in the 100 and 200-meter freestyle events were particularly notable, with her season best times of 47.16 and 1:43.50, respectively. Umstead's wins in the 200 IM and 200 breaststrokes were equally impressive, with her personal best times of 1:56.51 and 2:09.72.
The men's team was led by Maximus Williamson and David King, who each won two events. Williamson's wins in the 200 IM and 100-meter freestyle were close to his season bests, while King's victories in the 200 free and 200 backstrokes were just shy of his personal records.
Despite UVA's dominance, Penn State's senior Mariano Lazzerini emerged as the lone winner of the day, clocking 1:52.52 in the 200 breaststroke.
